People are ready for change - but support isn’t always there

Ben - Odyssey House client

Part of Ben's recovery has been building strong relationships with his two children.

Ben’s story

Ben* was a bright, athletic kid who loved surfing and playing footy with his younger brother. They came from a close, loving family.

Then, in one devastating moment, everything changed.

Ben’s brother died suddenly in a car accident. Struggling with overwhelming grief - and the pressures of becoming a new father - Ben turned to substances to cope. Over time, addiction became part of everyday life.

Recovery wasn’t a straight path. Ben came to Odyssey more than once - a reality for many people seeking longterm change. Each time, he learned something. But it wasn’t until his most recent opportunity for treatment that he felt ready to truly face his grief.

Today, Ben works at Odyssey in the intake team - answering calls from people facing the very challenges he once did.

Your support helps make outcomes like Ben’s possible.

Odyssey House NSW has been helping people overcome addiction since 1977. We provide holistic treatment that addresses not only substance dependence, but also trauma, mental health, and family relationships - the issues that sit at the heart of recovery.

Every day, we hear from people in desperate need for help. As demand continues to grow, your support has never been more important.

The need is growing

In the past 12 months alone, Odyssey received 7,900 enquiries for support - the highest number we’ve ever received in a single year.

Behind every enquiry is a person or family looking for hope. As waitlists grow, we must work harder to ensure quality care remains at the centre of everything we do.

But we can’t do this without you.
