How your support helps
Sometimes, there's only one moment in a person's life when they muster the courage to pick up the phone and seek help.
Each day, we receive more than 70 calls from people seeking alcohol and drug rehabilitation and support. Our dedicated team is committed to answering them all.
But more than that, they want the time to answer each call with compassion and gentleness.
We know how difficult it is to make that call and we want to have the time to listen and give our best self to each client.
An unanswered or hurried call— could be an opportunity lost forever. It’s a missed opportunity, a lost chance to reclaim a life.
Join us in supporting Odyssey and help more people like Ashraf find hope and healing.
Together, we can make a difference.

At 34, Ashraf struggled with mental health his entire life.
Despite a close family and strong connections in his community and church, living with a major mental health condition was overwhelming at times for Ashraf.
Cannabis use provided a way to safeguard himself from slipping into depression.
But life spiralled out of control when his cannabis use lead to methamphetamine ‘ice’ use.
His ‘ice’ use led to him offending, and in time that led to a more serious offence and prison.
A turning point came on his release. Referred by Hornsby Community Corrections Ashraf arrived at Odyssey.
Through face-to-face and telephone counselling, he completed 21 sessions, alongside attending the AOD 2 recovery group and nurse consultations.
Supported by his family and local church community, Ashraf began his journey to recovery.
Since engaging with Odyssey House, Ashraf's transformation has been remarkable.
He is now over 12 months abstinent and has rebuilt his relationship with his mother. He’s still working on the relationship with his stepfather, but he has developed skills which help.
Learning to control his emotions, Ashraf can now respond thoughtfully to situations, replacing negative thoughts with positive ones.
Ashraf's progress extends beyond his personal life. He completed his community corrections order, secured a full-time job, and is now studying law.
He actively participates in his community, attending church weekly and receiving support from his pastor.
Ashraf's story is one of resilience and hope, made possible by the support of Odyssey.
Your donation can help others like Ashraf rebuild their lives, overcome addiction, and find a path to a brighter future.
Together, we can make a difference, one life at a time.
