One Day starts with Day One - Your support can help people make their Day One a Reality
When you are seeking support to overcome the complex harms of alcohol and other drugs, that very first step is Day One – the day they bravely make a call for help and start future goals and objectives. One Day is the day when recovery becomes reality. A life of stability: a safe home, renewed relationships, meaningful work or study. The life our clients imagined on Day One – now fully lived.
Donate today to help people as they begin their Day One on the road to recovery.
Her story began on Day One – Now she’s dreaming of One Day
You’ve probably heard the saying, “Every journey begins with a single step.”
Recently one of our clients shared a similar phrase that was special to them…
One Day, Day One – four very simple words with so much meaning.
When someone decides to get help for their alcohol or drug use, that first step is everything. It takes extraordinary courage to leave behind what’s familiar - even when it’s not safe. That very first step is what we call Day One.
One young woman we recently supported had her Day One not long ago. She was just 15. She’d run away from a home that didn’t feel safe, with no one to turn to. Living on the streets, she turned to substances just to get through each day.
But one day, she picked up the phone and called Odyssey. She didn’t know what to expect - only that something had to change.
That call was the start of something new.
When she arrived at our residential program, she was frightened but determined. It’s not easy walking away from everything you know, even when you’re walking towards something better. But she pushed through.
With the support of Odyssey therapeutic community, she slowly started to heal. She even began helping others who were just beginning their own journeys. Through Odyssey College, she built skills and confidence.
She is now on the pathway to complete her One Day – her dream – which is to go to university and train for a career where she can help others who’ve faced the kinds of struggles she’s overcome.

And this only happened because someone like you believed in her.
Your support means we can be there for people as they seek help – they will be met with open arms, expert care, and the tools and resources to make anything possible. You help create safe places, second chances, and real hope.
Thanks to you, One Day isn’t just a dream. It’s a real, reachable future. Thank you for being part of that.
🧡 Donate today to help more young people take their first step toward a brighter future. Together, we can turn Day One into One Day—for every person who needs it.
